If printing is not their thing, then they need to work in conjunction with HP or whomever before they release their new OS versions. The HP LaserJet 1020 is compact in size compared to most other monochromatic laser printers. Please don't tell me that developers are not responsible for printing because their OS needs to be able to do printing as well as other OS tasks. I just don't think the developers of this OS are taking enough time or effort to do the testing that needs to be done on a new release before it is made available for public use. updates are still available, you run into things that used to work just fine, now no longer work. You can have things working just fine and then in order to supposedly improve your system by trying to keep on a release/version in which security, etc. Please excuse my rant, but it is this kind of stuff that somewhat turns me (and numbers of other users) off to Linux. Don't like the alternate interfaces either. Please don't tell me to go back to Ubuntu because the Unity interface just ruined it for me. Works but this little stuff bugs me to no end.Īlso, on older versions of Linux Mint and Ubuntu (when I was using Ubuntu before I switched to Mint), all I had to do was just go into the printer setup icon, put in the correct paramters regarding the printer and it worked with NO PROBLEMS. However, what irks me is that when I do this, when I boot the computer my Glipper icon comes up in the systray and then another duplicate Glipper icon is shown on the systray line and then it subsequently changes to the HP utility icon. The job is shown in the que for a minute or two and then just disappears.Īt least when I install from the HPLIP that I find on the Internet, it does print. Well, mostly because when I try that and then try to print a test page (and anything else as far as that is concerned) I get NOTHING.
